Two Year Old Program
Heather Lyle: Lead Teacher of the Twos

Heather Lyle has lived in Austin for the past ten years. This is her fifth year teaching the two’s class at Butterfly! She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and cannot imagine not working with children. Previously she has taught second, fourth, and fifth grades, coached swim team/swim lessons, along with teaching special needs middle school students through a unique program using non-releasable birds of prey and bats. No wonder she has named her classroom the Wild Things! Outdoor education, bringing nature indoors, and encouraging free play and process art make the days full of wonder for the children. She has been an educator for almost twenty years.

Heather decided to teach preschool when she started her own family here in Austin wanting to work part time. She is wife to a wonderful and supportive husband who is an educator as well. They have two amazing children ages eight and ten. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, gardening, cooking and traveling. A few of her favorite destinations have been Croatia and France where she most recently lived with her family to study French and teach English. She spends summers and holidays in her hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico hiking, camping, show-shoeing and skiing.

Favorite Children’s Book: Oregon’s Journey by Rascal—a wonderful tale of friendship and compassion.
