The Survey Said....

Last Sunday, September 3rd, a survey was conducted during both services to find out how our members initially found Shepherd of the Hills, what brought them back and why they are still members today. Here is a summary of the results:

46% of survey participants found Shepherd of the Hills because they were searching for a Lutheran Church.

27% of survey participants were invited by someone (a friend, family member or the pastor who knocked on their door)

9% of survey participants visited Shepherd of the Hills because they saw the church on Bee Cave Road

7% of survey participants visited because they had attended a ministry of the church

11% of survey participants visited for a variety of other reasons

What brought them back? Over 50% returned because of the welcoming hospitality and the worship service!! 30% returned for the programs and activities.

Why are they still members today? Here is a sampling of the reasons:

Community, People/Friends, Welcoming/Inclusive/Filled with Love, It’s Home/Family, Sermons, Worship, Outreach, Learn about God/Bible Centered, Purpose/Mission, Activities/Small Groups, Music

What should we do with this information? We need to share what we have with our friends!! A national survey determined that 86% of people said they would attend church if invited. However, only 2% of churchgoers invite someone to attend church.

Sunday, September 17 is Back to Church Sunday – A perfect day to come to church and bring a friend along! There is great power in the gift of invitation…to Come and See.
