|Rev. Lauren Dow Wegner
Pastor Lauren is overjoyed to be back in her home state to serve God's people at Shepherd of the Hills! She received a BA in Theology from Texas Lutheran University in 2003, and served as Director of Youth & Family Ministries at Shepherd of the Hills from 2004-2006. She then moved to Columbia, SC for seminary and received an MDiv with honors from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 2010. While in seminary, she met her husband, Dave, who is also an ordained ELCA pastor. She and Dave served in both their first and second calls together--the first at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Raleigh, NC, and then at Grace Lutheran Church & School in River Forest, IL. Pastor Lauren's ministry is very relational; she loves to hear your stories and learn about how you experience God in your life and the world around you. She loves serving Christ alongside people of all ages, from the very young to the older in our midst, and deeply values the unique gifts that each person brings to the Body of Christ. Pastor Lauren writes often about the intersections of faith, motherhood, and womanhood, and her work has been published in Augsburg Fortress publications as well as in The Christian Century. Pastor Lauren finds great joy in music through singing and songwriting, as well as playing guitar and flute. You can frequently find her at local coffee shops and cafes, either writing or meeting people for conversation and prayer. She and Dave, along with their children, Owen and Caroline, are thrilled to be part of the family of faith at Shepherd of the Hills!

After returning to the states – her first “real” nursing job was at Brackenridge Hospital. While there, she discovered her love of teaching and began her teaching career at Brackenridge School of Nursing.
