Our call to serve comes directly from our identity in Jesus Christ, whose life was lived for others. We count our neighbors as all people—whether local to Austin or across the world! Join us in service in Jesus’ name.
IN OUR CITY
BREAD FOR ALL
Bread for All is a Food Pantry run by Austin City Lutherans, providing food for our neighbors in the Montopolis area every Monday at 5:30pm. Shepherd of the Hills’ official evening to serve is the third Monday of each month, but members can be found there every Monday!
Location: Faith Presbyterian Church, 1314 E. Oltorf St.
THE SHELTERING INITIATIVE
MEALS ON WHEELS
Over 20 Shepherd of the Hills members and friends deliver meals to those in need through the Meals on Wheels of Central Texas. Weekly, monthly and “on-call” routes are available, and take a maximum of 2 hours to complete. If you would like to participate in this needed and heartwarming experience, fill out our contact form below!
MARIPOSA FAMILY LEARNING CENTER
Mariposa Family Learning Center is a newly named and established effort in SE Austin by Austin City Lutherans to provide young families with high-quality child care, supplemented by parent education and support.
Want to learn how to knit and/or crochet? Join us to create baby blankets for infants and toddlers for births and baptisms, and prayer shawls given to people in need of God’s love and comfort. Contact us below for more information.
Upbring is a local faith-based organization that helps children to thrive and shapes how Texas treats children. We provide financial and volunteer support for their programs BeREAL, Foster Texas, and New Life Children’s Center. Whether you are interested in fostering a child, being a mentor to help youth transition from foster care to independence, or have resources to donate, there is a way you can participate! Contact us below for more information.
IN OUR WORLD
The Haiti Mission Team is made up of college-age young adults and prayer partners from the congregation. Please click the link above for more information about this ministry or contact us below for more information!
The Guatemala Mission Team focuses on teaching our children to care for others by providing an opportunity for families to travel together (individuals are welcome too!) and build relationships with our brothers and sisters at the Augustinian Lutheran School and the Milagro Women’s Center in Guatemala City, and the Guatemala Lutheran Church in the community of Aurora, all ministries of ILAG. LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF
Quilting for Lutheran World Relief (LWR) makes quilts for families around the world who suffer in poverty due to political unrest or natural disasters. The quilting ministry is always in need of helping hands (no experience necessary) and gently used sheets of any size and cotton fabrics for these quilts. Contact us below for more information.
BABY CARE KITS
We collect items for kits throughout the year to help new mothers coping with poverty, disaster, and conflict care for their newborns, and gather once a year to assemble them. If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser; sewing, crocheting, or knitting blankets; or shopping for items that need to be purchased, contact us below!
